Thank You card - Scrappy Strip Technique

Hi everyone!

Gee Wiz! It has been a very long time since I've posted on my blog. Time goes by so quickly.

Today I made a card for a challenge set by my friend Kylie Bertucci, based on her husband Bruno's Scrappy Strip Technique.

Here is my card I created.

I am so happy with how it turned out! In making the strips for this technique, I have actually made 6 card fronts which I'll be turning into cards very soon.

Firstly, I stamped a different leaf image on a different coloured cardstock (I did 5 different stamps and colours) with versa mark ink and clear embossed them using clear embossing powder and my heat tool. I used 5 x 14.9cm x 10.5cm pieces of cardstock (half an A4).

Then I cut each panel into strips and arranged the strips on a blank piece of Whisper White cardstock,  which measures 14.4cm x 10cm. Bruno has a video that he shows this technique in action. I'll link that HERE. I ended up trimming that down to 13.9cm x 9.5cm and matted that on another piece of whisper white 14.9cm x 10cm. This then was adhered onto a top folding card base.

To finish my card, I cut some leaves from the co-ordinating die set in vellum cardstock and tucked them behind my sentiment. The sentiment was then stamped and die cut from the Stitched Shapes die set. I used a few basic rhinestones to bling it up a bit.

Supplies:

Stamps: Forever Fern, Peaceful Moments
Dies: Forever Flourishing, Stitched Shapes
Cardstock: Whisper White, Just Jade, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce, Vellum
Ink: Versamark, Memento Black ink
Other Basics: Adhesive (I used Tombo liquid glue and Tear n tape), Paper trimmer, Paper snips, Die cutting machine, Heat tool and Basic rhinestones.

If you don't have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and would like to purchase any of the above supplies, please contact me and I'd be happy to help you!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to leave me a comment!

Til next time,

Nicole.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Georgia Giguere

Hello to everyone out there visiting me today for our Crazy Crafters Blog Hop. This hop we have a special guest, Georgia Giguere! Thanks so much for joining us this month Georgia.

When this hop was first announced with Georgia, I admit that I wasn't too sure who she was, although I was familiar with some of her creations. I headed to her blog www.stampingeorgia.com but I don't think I was really prepared for what I learned about this amazing lady!

Her amazing story of Faith in God and battling a horrible disease brought tears to my eyes. I was moved so much by her writing that I kept reading and reading (I felt like a bit of a stalker! LOL). I would encourage you to take the time to read her journey and see her amazing talent. She shares lots of ideas and techniques.

Anyway, enough from me, lets get on with the show!

I couldn't decide on one project of Georgia's to CASE this week so I chose three. Yep, three. If I had more time I could have done more! haha.

This card really stood out to me because I had only recently got the Detailed Floral Thinlits Die. It is so beautiful and intricate. I love the softness of Georgia's card but I went for something a bit more bold, and Emerald Envy and Flirty Flamingo are such a "match-made-in-heaven". The sentiment I have chosen is from the stamp set One Big Meaning.

This next card was so cute and fun, but Valentine's cards just aren't my thing - so I've used this beautiful paper pack for a Thank You card. I love the designs but this pattern really stood out for me. I was going to do silver slimmer flowers but stuck with red ones.

The final card I made was actually the first one I made when CASING Georgia's cards. I loved the simplicity of it. As this trim is retired I thought it was a perfect opportunity to try my new FREE Sale-a-bration stamp set, Delicate Details. (Free with any $90 spent on my online store!).

Global Design Project #GDP073

Hello crafting friends and thanks for joining me for my blog post. I'm posting this quite late because its been a very busy, but lovely weekend catching up with my parents, who have been in New Zealand for 5 weeks on holiday and visiting my brother and family. I had made this card earlier in the week but typical of me, I leave it til the last minute to photograph and blog - and for the last 4 days its been horrible weather... so no lovely garden photo with my card this time.

Anyhow, this is the card I've made for the Global Design Projects colour challenge they presented this week. The colours are Daffodil Delight, Watermelon Wonder and Emerald Envy. I quite liked this colour combination and didn't find it too hard to get some inspiration.

I have used one of my fave stamp sets, Garden in Bloom and Tin of Cards for the sentiment. I just cannot resist the cute little bee - perfect for Daffodil Delight! I have stamped off with my flowers to get the different shades of Watermelon Wonder. A great way to add depth without adding another colour.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Shannon Lane

Hello to everyone out there visiting me today for our Crazy Crafters Blog Hop. This hop we have a special guest, Shannon Lane! Thanks so much for joining us this month Shannon!

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Nicole Spicer - or may have come from the person previous to me. Be sure to click on the person listed under me further down the page to continue your journey on this blog hop.

Here is the card I have made. I decided to use a layout to base my card on this time. I loved the vertical look. I'll admit, I don't make too many cards with the top fold, but I really love this one.

I've stuck with my favourite colour to base my card today - Sweet Sugarplum. I've teamed this with Flirty Flamingo and Blushing Bride for my balloons. My bear is a triple stamped image in Sahara Sand, Soft Suede and Early Expresso.

The stamp sets I have used in my card are Baby Bear, Bookshelf Builder for the sentiment and hearts and Gorgeous Grunge for the background splatters. I know Shannon has flicked her Stampin' Write Markers to create her splatter effect, but I'm afraid I'm not as clever as her (or just not as experienced!) and mine didn't work! My next best thing was my ever useful Gorgeous Grunge.

Here is the card from Shannon that I have chosen to CASE. You can click on the image to go to her blog post featuring this card. Every month we have to chose a card to CASE and this month was no exception to the difficulty of choosing just one! Shannon's work is amazing!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today, and I hope you will continue on our blog hop to check out the amazing creations made by Shannon and our team of Crazy Crafters!

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Valerie Moody

A very big hello to everyone out there visiting me today for our Crazy Crafters Blog Hop. This hop we have a special guest, Valerie Moody. Thanks so much for joining us this month Valerie!

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Nicole Spicer - or may have come from the person previous to me. Be sure to click on the person listed under me further down the page to continue your journey on this blog hop.

Here is the card I have made.

Here is the inside of my card. I just put a flower in the corner this time as I didn't want to take up too much writing space. I have left off a sentiment in my card because I wanted to have this card for a generic purpose.

When I was deciding which card I wanted to CASE of Valerie's, I came across this colour palette which she had used for a challenge on her blog. You can click on the image to go to her blog post for this challenge.

I absolutely love these colours together so I couldn't wait to get started! I also wanted to use my Sale-a-bration freebie stamp set called Avent Garden. I really love this stamp set. The flower is just gorgeous and the font of the sentiments is lovely. Here's a look at that set:

Remember, this stamp set is FREE with every $90 AUD you spend on any amazing Stampin' Up! products you order. I have a link on my blog to the beautiful catalogues available at the moment. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
