Global Design Project #GDP024

Hi everyone,

Well I need to be honest, for some reason, I really struggled with this one! This card was made for a CASE challenge from Global Design Project, #GDP024. The challenge this week was to CASE a designer, Michelle Last. Her work is amazing, as I'm sure you'll agree.

Here is my card I eventually came up with!

And here is Michelle's card. You can click on the image to go to the challenge blog.

  • I have cut the balloon out with the new balloon punch. It is so awesome!
  • The papers I have used are from the Its My Party paper pack. The washi tape is also from the same collection.
  • The sentiment is from the new Sale-a-bration stamp set called Party Pants. Such a fun stamp set!
  • The colour pallet I've used is Mint Macaron, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Tip Top Taupe.
I hope you've enjoyed my card!
Til next time,
Nicole x

Forgotten Posts - Global Design Project #GDP022 & #GDP023

Hello again!

Well, I seem to do this a LOT of this..... I see a blog challenge I want to participate in..... make my card....... blog it until I get interrupted...... and then miss the deadline :-(

So I'd like to share two cards I had made for two challenges from Global Design Project.

#GDP022 -  Sketch Challenge

This was my first time using the botanicals suite. Cajun Craze is almost my least favourite colour, but I will admit I'm warming up towards it after using it on this card! Hmm.... well, small steps! :-)

#GDP023 - Theme Challenge - Balloons

I really loved the theme of balloons - I mean, who doesn't love balloons?! Its such a happy theme, and so versatile as you can give balloons for any occasion. But I've gone with probably the most popular: a birthday!

Well I hope you liked my cards! Feel free to leave me a comment :-)

Just Add Ink #299 - Watermelon Work of Art

Hi there! Welcome back to my blog today! My posts on here lately have been very far and few between, much to my regret. I have taken on a 4 day a week job at our local primary school, that 3 of my kids go to as well. I'm assisting in one of our Kindy classrooms and I absolutely LOVE it..... But, it takes away from all my previously free time! However, I did get to knock this card up this afternoon for a challenge called Just Add Ink. This week's challenge is an Inspiration one - where they provide a picture and you take from that what you want to create a project.

This is what I came up with!

And here is the challenge from JAI! Click on the image to go to their challenge site.

I went looking on Google images for some ideas on a watermelon themed card. I ended up stumbling on a card made by Julia Davison. I just loved her card! I'll put a picture and link to her site in a tick! Anyway, I have based my card on Cucumber Crush and Watermelon Wonder. However, when I stamped my watermelon wedge using my Work of Art stamp set, I didn't like any other colours in my background. Then had a clash between the background cardstock and DSP and my watermelon wedge.. :-( So I tried a piece of vellum to separate the two, and ta-daa! It was perfect! :-) Candy dots in the corners disguises the glue dot I've used to adhere it to my cardstock.

The sentiment I've used is a long retired set that I haven't been able to separate from my stamps.... but you could definately use any sentiment you want!

Here is Julia's card.

Well I hope you've enjoyed my card today! I was so wrapped how it turned out. Please leave me a comment, I'd love to hear your thoughts too!

Til next time,
Nicole.

Crazy Crafters February Blog Hop - Inspired by Patty Bennett

Well Hello! Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop for February! This month we are absolutely thrilled to have a guest stamper with us, none other than the very talented Patty Bennett!! She has been such a great influence in my crafting with all the beautiful projects she has made and with all the tips and tricks that she shares. We hope you find great inspiration from all the beautiful projects we have all made!

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Nicole Spicer - or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup at the end will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects. At the moment you are visiting Nicole Spicer.

Here is the card I made!

My first thought when I sat down to create this project was, "How am I going to create just ONE project of Patty's to use as my inspiration?" It was such a tough decision! But, I did finally chose one. It was a card she had made recently with a YouTube tutorial. It is a FUN FOLD! I love fun fold cards! This just really jumped out at me! This is her card!

Patty made a few different cards based on this design! I loved them all!

Tips and Tricks:
To make two of these cards out of 1 sheet of A4 cardstock, I cut the cardstock in half vertically, so it ends up 10.5cm x 29.7cm (approx).
Score along the longest side at 10.7cm and 22.8cm (4-1/4" and 9").
Use the 2" circle punch to create a circle on the 22.8cm score line.
I used my scallop punch to create a border in Bermuda Bay cardstock to adhere on the straight edge on the front of my card. I then stuck rhinestones onto scallop. Can you ever have enough bling?
The sentiment I used was from 2016 Sale-a-bration catalogue, which was free with a $90 order. However, this stamp set (along with a couple of other items) is now finished. But you could certainly use any other sentiment that suits.  Silly me! I made my card earlier this month and didn't give it a second thought that it wouldn't be available anymore when this blog hop went live!
I used white embossing powder to give my sentiment some real shine. I just love embossed sentiments! Plus I think it is so striking against the Bermuda Bay cardstock.
To make my heart, I created a mask from a post-it note and my heart punch. I then sponged around the mask with Pool Party ink. Using the other half of the post-it note, I then stamped the large heart from the stamp set Bloomin' Love in Melon Mambo ink. I really love how it turned out! Of course I had to add another rhinestone to the middle of the flower!

Well I hope you have enjoyed my card, inspired by Patty Bennett!

Below is the blog hop lineup. At the moment you are visiting Nicole Spicer.

Thank you for joining us on our blog hog today! Please leave me a comment, I'd love to hear what you thought of my card!

Hope to see you again soon!
