Crazy Crafters & Pootlers Blog Hop - Occasions Catalogue Sneek Peak

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters / Pootles Blog Hop for December! This month we are excited to show off our "2016 Occasions / Saleabration Sneak Peeks". We hope you find great inspiration from the projects.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Nicole Spicer - or may have come from the person previous to me - Angelina Clark. Be sure to click on the next button further down to continue your journey on this blog hop.

This month we have very exciting news that we have the famous Pootles - Sam Donald and her lovely team playing along with us! All the way from the UK. We are absolutely thrilled that they said yes to playing along with the Crazy Crafters this month, as Sam is VERY talented and has a following all around the world. Thanks Sam and her team!

Here is the list of bloggers we have participating this month and what a list!

So here is my card. When I saw this suite at the Local Onstage Stampin' Up! event last month, I was so excited! I'm a bit of a pink girl and I love this beautiful intricate heart die.

Here's a brief run down of how I made by card.
  • My card base is 10.5cm x 15cm in Rose Red and I layered on that a piece of Blushing Bride 10.2cm x 14.7cm as I only wanted a small border due to the size of the heart die.
  • I then cut a piece of the new Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper stack to 9.9cm x 14.4cm. I flipped this piece over and ran it through my Big Shot with the new Bloomin' Heart Thinlits Die. This is on page 16 of the new catalogue. And even better, you can purchase the die with the stamp set and save 15%! Love it! I adhered this piece onto the Blushing Bride cardstock.  I love this effect so you get a sold colour against the detail of the heart.
  • I then ran that same die through using the new Blushing Bride glimmer paper. Its so beautiful! And in true Stampin' Up! style, the glimmer paper coordinates with the DSP! I used dimensionals to pop up the heart on the DSP.
  • My greeting is from the Stamp Set Bloomin' Love Stamp Set, which as I said is available in a bundle. The banner is cut out with the big shot also, with the Large Numbers Framelits Dies, but could easily be fussy cut. I popped this up with 2 dimensionals so it would pop up over the heart.
  • I finished off my card today by adhering some flowers (from the Bloomin' Heart Thinlit Die) in Rose Red cardstock and basic rhinestone jewels.
  • The inside of my card has a strip of the same DSP and a flower/jewel just so it matches!

I hope you've enjoyed my card today. I was really happy with how it turned out!

Enjoy the rest of the blog hop! Click on the NEXT button below to continue through. Be sure to leave us comment if you can, I know I love hearing from you!

Global Design Project #GDP012

Hi again! Wow, two posts in one day! LOOK OUT!

I finally got some mojo today so I could make a card for one of my favourite blog challenges, Global Design Project. This week they have a CASE the designer, a beautiful card by Brian King. I'll show you Brian's card soon, but first I'll show you what I came up with!

I started out with Brian's colour scheme of Pool Party and Whisper White but that was as far as I got! Garden Green is one of my favourite shades of green for my trees, especially with white embossing! They just pop! I have also run my Pool Party piece through my big shot with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Then I sponged Whisper White craft ink gently over the raised embossing to create more of a snow effect. For the fallen snow I tore some Whisper White paper to make two 'hills'.

Here is Brian's beautiful card which links to the Global Design Project blog. Check it out!

Crazy Crafters November Blog Hop - Most Used Stamp Set

Well Hello! Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop for November! This month we are excited to show off projects made with our most-used stamp set. We hope you find great inspiration for all the beautiful projects.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Nicole Spicer - or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup at the end will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects. At the moment you are visiting Nicole Spicer.

This has been a very weekend for the Crazy Crafters team! Yesterday I went to the very first On Stage global event for Stampin' Up! It was AMAZING!! It was also my very first Stampin' Up! event so I was so excited!! I have come away from it absolutely inspired! So much so, that when I got home at 10pm, I started re-doing my blog hop card! In fact, this morning I made another 3!

I have used two stamp sets, Lighthearted Leaves and Tin of Cards for the sentiment. I love both of these sets. The Lighthearted leaves stamp set has matching dies so you can whiz them through the Big Shot to save SO much time. No fussy cutting here! All the supplies I've used will be at the end of my post.

So here are my cards. I have also done some minor stamping on the inside of each card so I'll include a smaller pic of that too.

The first card I created I wanted to be really simple. So I have included one of the leaves from the Lighthearted Leaves and stamped it in opposite directions onto Very Vanilla cardtock. The sentiment I have used in all my cards is the Happy Birthday from the Tin of Cards stamp set. I stamped this in Tangerine Tango onto Very Vanilla and cut this out plus a mat piece from the Lots of Labels framelits dies. I then wrapped around some thick bakers twine across the middle and popped the sentiment up with dimensionals.

To make my next card, I created some DSP of my own by stamping the different leaves onto Whisper White cardstock in Rich Razzleberry, Hello Honey, Cajun Craze, Garden Green and Crumb Cake. I then trimmed a piece to adhere to my Crumb Cake cardstock and then adhered that to my Cajun Craze card base. The sentiment is also stamped in Cajun Craze.

The third card I've made is a little more involved, but still very easy to create! Firstly I stamped the leaf in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and coloured it in using Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie markers. These are all from the Brights collection, and you can purchase all the Brights collection Stampin' Write markers together in one pack. I cut it out with my Big Shot using the matching framelit - love that timesaver! I also embossed my Pumpkin Pie piece with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and layered that on my Soft Suede cardbase. The tag was punched with the Triple Banner Punch on the largest size. I love this punch too!! I used the 1 1/4" Burlap trim to add a more masculine touch.

The final card I've made uses the Whisper White random stamped leaf design I made for my 2nd card. I just wanted to use a little bit to contrast. I embossed the Crumb Cake piece with the Woodgrain TIEF and layered it on my Garden Green card base. The leaves were stamped with matching ink and paper, in Garden Green, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake and Tangerine Tango. For something different, I have used the Tags & Labels Framelit dies. Aren't they just awesome. The set comes in two shapes in so many sizes. Just perfect for these medium-sized sentiments.

Well I hope you've enjoyed my cards today. I had a lot of fun creating them! To stay on track with the blog hop, please click on the name after me, Nicole Spicer.

Stamp Ink Paper challenge 21 - Embellished Ornaments

Hello blog land!

Thanks for joining me for my card today. The theme for my card is Christmas, as I've chosen the challenge from Stamp, Ink, Paper. I love making Christmas cards, and this stamp set is really beautiful. I hadn't used the holly branch before and I love it! I've used a very simple colour palette of Cucumber Crush and Whisper White and a dash of silver glimmer! To make my berries stand out, I'd normally colour them in a red marker, either Cherry zcobbler or Real Red and then grab my Crystal Effects and dot over them, but I didn't want to wait until it dried, so I used some red rhinestones from Kaisercraft instead. Shhh! Don't tell anyone! :-)

Here is my card.

#TGIFC27 Remix challenge - Lighthearted Leaves

Hi again! I made this card yesterday after watching a YouTube video, from Ophelia Crafts. You can view that HERE. I loved the look of their card using a sunburst stamping technique. I hadn't tried this before, so I was intrigued. Here is how it turned out.

When making this card, I also kept in mind the challenge set by TGIFChallenges, which was a Remix challenge. The idea being that you pick at least 2 of the challenges set in the last month. Here are the ones I chose.

Mojo Monday MOJO422 - Best Thoughts

Hello again!

I made this card with two challenges in mind, one of them being Mojo Monday. I always try to make a card from this challenge blog, but sometimes I don't get around to blogging and entering it! But anyway! Here it is.

The challenge for Mojo Monday this week was a sketch challenge. I really like sketch challenges! They allow a great place to start (the design!) and enable you to get creative within that. I hope I didn't get too creative with this sketch, because I kind of did change a few things, like the Tip Top Taupe DSP in the background is wider and the sentiment oval is at the opposite corner! But as its quoted in : "the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules." :-)

Here is the sketch. You can click on the picture to go straight to their blog.

Global Design Project #GDP009 - Best Thoughts

Hello and welcome back to my blog today!

#GDP008 - Case the Designer - Zoo Babies

Hello again! Thanks for joining me again for a blog post, this time for a challenge for Global Design Project. This challenge is a 'Case the Designer" one, a card originally created by my friend and Stampin' Up! mentor, Kylie Bertucci. The original card she created was awesome - so it was a big ask!

Anyway, here is the card I came up with. I have followed the colour palette of Tip Top Taupe, Cherry Cobbler and Hello Honey. I wanted to make a birthday card for my friend who LOVES giraffes. This one is just so adorable.

I've included a colour swatch for my project below. I really love this colour combination!

Here is my card.

SIP Challenge #19 Giggle Greetings

Hello there! Welcome back to my blog for a Stamp, Ink Paper challenge!

I liked that this challenge was a Tic-Tac-Toe grid. There are many options to participate in this challenge. There are plenty that relate to a Halloween theme but unfortunately Halloween isn't a big of a deal in Australia. However, one of the options involved a cat.... and my only cat stamp happens to be in one of my favourite funny stamps sets. Orange and Patterned Paper also complete the challenge options. I have incorporated these by using Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango colours from the Brights Collection and Tangerine Tango Designer Series Paper.

Before I show you the challenge, here is my card.

Here is a view showing the inside of my card. I have used both sides of the DSP for a contrast.

Crazy Crafters October Blog Hop - Fun Folds

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop for October. This month we are excited to show off some amazing fun folds. We hope you find great inspiration from the projects.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Nicole Spicer - or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects. At the moment you are visiting Nicole Spicer.

Here is the Blog Hop line up:

Here is my card for this months blog hop, using the fun fold "Tri-Fold Shutter".

I absolutely love making tri-fold shutter cards. I think they're a great way to show off beautiful designer paper and let them really speak for themselves, without too much embellishment. I have used papers from the new 2015 Holiday Catalogue called "Season of Cheer". I think the design are so lovely and contrast so well together. The colours are really beautiful with a hint of Soft Sky on some of the designs. I have matted my panels of DSP with Mossy Meadow to compliment the Cheery Cobbler card base.

I have used two stamp sets on my card , one for the front called "Peaceful Wreath" and the sentiment from "Versatile Christmas". I seem to always purchase sentiment stamp sets in Wood mount because it saves so much time to stamp and go, especially in this case where I have stamped and then die cut my circles. For more precise stamping I always use my Stamp-a-ma-jig.

The dimensions of my card are as follows. I got this from Pinterest, from "The Per(s)nickety Scrapper". She also has some pics of how to cut and place your layered DSP. You can visit her blog by clicking on the image below.

http://pernicketyscrapper.blogspot.ca/2013/04/tri-shutter-card-templates-and-tutorial.html

I have also folded my card a bit differently to how I sometimes do it, because I wanted a flush, clean front with the same DSP showing.

I hope you've enjoyed my card today. I would love it if you could leave me a comment and let me know what you though too!

Just Add Ink #283 - Watercolour Wings

Hello again! This morning I got to make two cards! Look out! For those that know me, I have 4 kids and sometimes it can be days until I can sit down at my craft desk, let alone make two cards! But this one is a simple card based on a challenge sketch for Just Add Ink. I'll show you that after.

But here is my card. I had the butterfly pre-made in my stash so that saved me some time! Usually when I'm doing something as time consuming or fiddly as the 3 stamp process of this butterfly, I tend to make a few and have them on-hand! I also love washi tape!! So there is bound to be some I've used here that are retired, but they can be substituted for any you have!

The challenge from Just Add Ink is below. You can click on the image and it'll take you straight to their blog. Check it out for some great ideas!

Global Design Project #GDP006 & CAS Challenge #74 - Dove of Peace

Hello and welcome back to my blog today. Today I have made a card for two blog challenges, Global Design Project #GDP006 and Addicted to CAS Challenge # 74. Both these challenges will be below.

I had to change the layout on the GDP project  as I wanted to use the Dove of Peace stamp set from Stampin' Up! and I think it just looked wrong the other way, though maybe that's just my brain! I also wanted to use my Winter Wonderland vellum stack too. I haven't used any of the white and gold vellum pages before and thought they'd look good with the detail of the dove stamped in Gold ink.

Here is my card.

Here is a closer view of my card. As you will know. if you have worked with vellum, it can be a bit tricky to adhere the vellum to cardstock without the adhesive showing through! In my case, I have used glue dots in the corners and placed a candy dot over them to disguise. The area under the sentiment can be glued down with regular snail because it's covered over.

I have used a retired stamp set called "Curly Cute". Of course this can be substituted for a current sentiments, but I love this one!

The two challenge blogs I've used are below.
